Chemistry 2 chapter 2 test

What you need to study for chapter 2 test :
The only notes you can use are the index cards on
table 2.4 (common cations) -textbook page 60 and
table 2.5 (common anions) - textbook page 62
As promised here are the topics -
1. Atomic structure
-determine the number of protons, neutrons and electrons if the mass number of the element is given
-isotopes notation : hyphenated and subscript/superscript
-atomic mass/weight calculation if the atomic masses and percent abundance of isotopes are given
-definitions for alpha, beta and gamma particles
2. Periodic table
-classification of elements
3. Empirical and molecular formula
-definition
-calculations if percent mass of moles are given
4. Ionic compounds
-predicting ionic charge
-oxidation number
5. Molecular compounds
-predicting bond type based on element location in the periodic table
-write chemical formulas for ionic /molecular compounds if the name of the compound is given
-name ionic/molecular compounds if the chemical formula is given
6. Organic compounds
-naming alkanes, alkenes and alkynes
Don't forget to bring your CALCULATORS !!!!!
Have a great Sunday !

My first blog on chemistry

Hello everybody !
I always wanted to give an opportunity, to those who missed my class or those who did not pay attention, to figure out where we are in our journey and what we had done during class.
So get ready and check it out !!!
All postings will start Monday, January 24 ,2010 and will continue as long as necessary for this semester !
All comments and feedback are welcome and highly appreciated !
(This does not translate to "if you leave a comment you get extra credit" !! )
As somebody we know would say -DAAAA,BIG RED TRUCK !!!
You all have a great weekend and see you Monday !
